June 29, 2016: The Final Pack.

That’s what a month of malaria medication looks like, right there.

I’m leaving Saturday for the adventure of a lifetime (or at least the adventure of the year!) – 24 days backpacking through Peru and Bolivia.  While there, I’ll be exploring Inca ruins, hiking the Andes, descending the Amazon River, and reconnoitering a five hundred year-old Bolivian silver mine.

Watch this space for periodic updates, as internet connectivity allows.  I’ll be writing and documenting daily, but we’ll see how much gets through my itinerant lifestyle.

All of this is made possible with a generous grant from Fund for Teachers, who have expressed a tremendous vote of confidence in my dream – to collect and present original and dynamic classroom materials focusing on parts of the world neglected by traditional world history textbooks in the United States.
